Hans Dahl (1849-1937) Norwegian
Hans Dahl was a Norwegian painter born at Hardanger in 1849. After serving in the Swedish army, he decided to pursue a career in art studying at Karlsruhe and at Düsseldorf under the guidance of Hans Fredrik Gude (1825-1903) a noted Mid-Nineteenth Century Norwegian artist, and Wilhelm Riefstahl (1827-1888) a German contemporary of Gude. Dahl started exhibiting his work in Berlin in 1876 and developed a reputation as a notable painter of Landscape and Genre Scenes.
